Blood Clotting and Vitamin K

In 1929, a Danish scientist found that chicks fed diets lacking a particular dietary factor may cause bleeding; blood was slow to form the clots. The missing factor was named vitamin K, which comes from the Danish word koagulation, meaning, “blood clotting”.
