How the herbs help the people with UC?

In order to explain the results from herbal therapy, the causes and following factors that are related with UC include:

(1). Abnormalities of the immune system: Autoimmune damage is paid attention to by the scientists; even the trigger factors and details of UC remain unknown. The clinic evidences to support that theory are the people with UC usually are complicated with erythema nodosum, iritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), kind of autoimmune diseases, and immunosuppression therapy can relief the UC is another evidence.

Also in the laboratory, the serum non-specific antibody for colon mucosa can be checked out in people with UC and the serum antibody for bacillus colic 014 presents cross-reaction with colon epithelium antigen indicates humoral immunity disturbance. The colon epithelium cells from UC can be damaged by lymphocyte; indicates cellular immunity disorder.  The deposit of immune complex can be found in the colon membrane of UC by the method of fluorescent antibody technique (FAT). Finally, use of the immune method can successfully copy the experimental model in animals with UC.

The Chinese herbal formula for UC includes a group of herbs to tonify body immune deficiency and relieve the attack from antibody and humoral. After using the herbs, the people with UC found the fatigue reduced, appetite and energy increased.

(2). Genetics: We know the UC can tend to run in families. In a case(s) involving identical twins, one twin developed UC, and the other one suffered the disorder in about 20% of the cases.

The people with HLA-B11 and B7 tend to develop UC. Because no one can change her/his genetic composition up to now, so the secondary protection is important for the people with UC, such as to avoid taking drugs to damage the gene, radiation, chemicals or some antibiotics or irritate the immune system, such as implant breast prosthesis.

(3). Diet, vitamins and minerals deficiency:  Most people with UC is complicated with anemia, which may be caused by the fatigue and weakness, or due to UC bleeding, a vitamin B12 deficiency due to ileal dysfunction, foliate malabsorption and minerals deficiency due to diarrhea. Like Vitamin C deficiency for canker sores, vitamins and minerals deficiency cause colon epithelium cell ulcers; cold and poor digestive foods increase colon smooth muscular movement and spasm.

The formula offers several different vitamins and minerals.
After boiling the herbs, there is a lot of “mud-like” left-over; they are the mineral herbs.

(4). Psychological stress: Emotional distress contributes to increased intestinal movement; smooth muscular contraction and spasm, colon tissue ischemia, increased capillary penetrability; then causes UC. The herbal formulae could bring relief, relax and reduce the stress; relieve cramping pain and tenesmus.

(5). Inflammation: Scientists do not know whether it is a cause or a result of the disease. There is a lack of evidence of unique bacteria, virus or fungus from UC. The formula we use shows wide-spectrum antibiotic like effects that can reduce the inflammation; there is no drug-fast that has been found.

How long will the improvement show?

Unlike drugs the people can feel the result within a couple of hours.  The herbal therapy would show the improvement slowly but the effect on UC lasts longer. Not only is the disease itself a refractory feature, which is related with a lot of systems of the body, repair or change the immune systemic problems, but is also related with a wound healing. You can imagine that if you cut the tip of a finger, the wound needs at least one week or longer to heal. For the patient with a damaged colon, one to three month(s) for recovering from the UC is reasonable.
Be patient; the long use of herbal therapy can cure UC, and at least the herbal therapy has no side effects or does not cause any new problems.

Are there any side effects from herbal formulae?

There are no any side effects found from the herbal formulae for curing UC.
The only problem is that the herbal juice does not taste delicious, it is like black coffee, with bitter and sour. The first drink tastes awful and the second drink taste better.
